The Africa Democratic Congress, ADC, has warned that it will hold President Bola Tinubu personally responsible should anything happen to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, while he remains in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
ADC spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this known while maintaining that El-Rufai is being detained as a political prisoner.
Speaking on a television programme, Politics Today, on Thursday night, the ADC spokesman said El-Rufai has a medical condition that requires proper attention from a doctor.
He said that while it may not be intentional, failing to allow Malam Nasir El-Rufai access to the medical care he needs amounts to not helping him.
He added that according to information from his family, El-Rufai was recently at the National Hospital, where doctors advised that he be kept under observation because his health was deteriorating.
Abdullahi said both he and the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, had already made their position known, that should anything happen to Malam Nasir El-Rufai while in custody, President Bola Tinubu would be held personally accountable, since the responsibility ultimately rests with him.
He stated that there is currently a political prisoner in Nigeria, and that person is Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
