Agu makes Bremen injury return in pre-season win

Super Eagles defender Felix Agu marked his long-awaited return from injury as Werder Bremen recorded a two-nil victory over VfL Bochum in a pre-season friendly at the Parkstadion in Zell am Ziller on Saturday, PidomNigeria Sports Extra reports.
The Nigeria international was named in Werder Bremen’s starting line-up for the training camp fixture, making his first appearance after recently recovering from muscular problems that had kept him out of action during the club’s pre-season preparations, having trained individually in the days leading up to the match before being declared fit to feature.
Erevbenagie broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute after latching onto Olivier Deman’s perfectly weighted pass, rounding Bochum goalkeeper Timo Horn before finishing into the bottom corner.
Agu, aged 26, endured a physical afternoon on the left flank and was booked shortly after the restart following an altercation that also saw Alessandro Crimaldi and former Werder teammate Manuel Mbom shown yellow cards.
Despite the intense encounter, he completed his comeback without further injury concerns before being substituted in the 48th minute as head coach Daniel Thioune made a double change to manage his workload.
Werder wrapped up the victory in the 70th minute when Salim Musah converted from the penalty spot after winning the spot-kick himself, sending Horn the wrong way to make it 2-0.
The result capped a successful training camp in Austria for Werder Bremen, with Agu’s return providing a further boost as the club continues preparations for the 2026/27 Bundesliga campaign.
