Alaafin hails Tinubu over award of circular road projects in Oyo

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade I, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the construction of the Oyo Circular Road linking Ijawaya, Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Sabo, Ilora, and Akinmorin in Oyo Federal Constituency.
The monarch described the approval as a demonstration of the President’s commitment to infrastructure development and improving the socio-economic well-being of the people.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the Alaafin recalled that during his recent visit to President Tinubu at his Bourdillon residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, he emphasised the urgent need for critical infrastructure to improve economic activities and the quality of life in Oyo metropolis.
The monarch said the poor condition of roads in the metropolis had, for decades, posed serious socio-economic challenges, expressing confidence that the circular road project would ease transportation, boost commerce, and enhance access to essential services.
According to him, the project will improve connectivity within the metropolis and neighbouring communities, reduce travel time for farmers and traders, attract investments, and facilitate quicker access to healthcare facilities, particularly during emergencies.
Oba Owoade described the project as a major milestone in the development of Oyo, saying it reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to grassroots development and infrastructure renewal.
The Alaafin also commended prominent indigenes of Oyo State, including Engr. Idris Adeoye Adegboyega, Alhaji Wasiu Adebisi, and Dr. Zacch Adedeji, for their contributions to the development of the ancient town.
He thanked President Tinubu for approving the project and prayed for wisdom and strength for the President as he continues to lead the country.
He said: “It will also improve healthcare and emergency access, as residents, particularly pregnant women and the elderly, will be able to access nearby hospitals and emergency services without delays caused by poor road conditions. It will also enhance safety and connectivity through a smooth, well-paved surface that will drastically reduce vehicular wear and tear, make daily commuting safer, and connect our communities to neighbouring towns.
“This landmark project stands as a testament to your commitment to grassroots development and the dividends of democracy. We see your dedication to the infrastructural transformation of our nation, and we remain fully supportive of your administration’s continued efforts to bring progress to our metropolis.
“A massive thank you to our dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his outstanding support and investment in our metropolis’ infrastructure. These landmark projects align perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda by creating jobs, connecting producers to markets, and uplifting lives.
“Your Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the good people of Oyo metropolis extend our deepest gratitude for your visionary leadership and unwavering support. We pray for continued wisdom, good health, and success as you pilot the affairs of our great nation. Thank you once again for listening to our plea and for remembering our metropolis.”
