APC Chairman Meets Kwankwaso Ally as Kano Political Tensions Rise

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has explained that his visit to Senator Rufai Hanga of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, a close ally of Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, was aimed at promoting peace, unity and development in Kano State.

Yilwatda disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday following a courtesy visit to Hanga, explaining that the meeting centred on issues affecting the state and how political leaders across party lines could work together for its benefit.

He described the discussions as cordial, focusing on the unity, peace, stability and future of Kano State, and maintained that political differences should not prevent leaders from collaborating for the good of the people.

He added that Nigeria stands to make greater progress when leaders prioritise cooperation over political rivalry, stressing that the country’s development is best served through bridges of understanding, constructive dialogue, and placing citizens’ welfare above partisan interests.

The visit comes amid apparent strained relations between Senator Hanga and Kwankwaso, following a series of unapologetic remarks made by the lawmaker.

Hanga had expressed bitterness after losing his ticket to Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, and had also alleged that Kwankwaso was considering handing the Kano gubernatorial ticket to his son, Mustapha Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
