Ten abducted victims were saved by Nigerian Army troops in Sokoto State after a bloody gunfight with suspected terrorists.
Security forces began an onslaught against the armed organization in one of the state’s problematic communities, which prompted the operation.
According to military sources, the suspects abandoned the victims during the exchange and ran into the nearby jungle after coming under intense fire from the soldiers.
The rescued victims were evacuated to safety and are receiving necessary care, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and recover weapons or other items left behind.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against criminal elements and restoring security in affected communities across the North-West.
