Atiku to Tinubu: Apologise, Resign Over PFIPC Scandal

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to apologise to Nigerians and resign over the controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) accounts.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku argued that conflicting testimonies from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) have created a major credibility crisis for the Tinubu administration.
According to Atiku, the contradictory accounts from two of Nigeria’s key financial institutions raise serious questions about transparency and accountability. He said President Tinubu should either order an independent investigation into the matter or step aside if he cannot restore public confidence.
Atiku also urged the President to clearly state which version of events he believes, warning that continued silence would only fuel public suspicion. He criticized the Attorney-General of the Federation for not speaking on the issue, describing the silence as worsening the controversy.
The former vice president further called on the National Assembly to summon both the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Governor of the Central Bank to testify together under oath before its investigative committee, arguing that Nigerians deserve a clear and truthful explanation.
The statement reflects Atiku’s position and political criticism of the government. The Presidency has not been quoted in this report as responding to these allegations.
