Bandits abduct several farmers in fresh attacks on Kebbi communities

Several farmers have reportedly been abducted by suspected bandits following separate attacks on farmlands in Wasagu and Dadin Kowa areas of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The development was disclosed in a post shared on Saturday by security analyst and crisis reporter, Bakatsine, via his X handle.
Quoting local sources, Bakatsine said: “Several farmers have reportedly been abducted by bandits in Wasagu and Dadin Kowa areas of Danko-Wasagu LGA, Kebbi State, after gunmen stormed their farms while they were working.”
According to the report, the attacks occurred on Wednesday and Thursday when armed men invaded the farming communities and abducted an unspecified number of farmers.
The exact number of victims remains unclear, while their whereabouts and condition were yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
Residents said the recurring attacks have heightened fear among communities in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, with many expressing concern over their safety while carrying out farming activities.
The latest incidents add to growing security concerns in parts of Kebbi State despite ongoing security operations aimed at curbing banditry and other criminal activities.
They also raise fresh questions about the safety of farmers in vulnerable rural communities and the potential impact of insecurity on agricultural activities and food security.
The latest incidents have intensified calls for urgent intervention by security agencies and government authorities to halt the recurring attacks, secure the release of the abducted farmers and protect vulnerable communities across the state.
Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area is among the parts of Kebbi State that have witnessed repeated attacks by armed groups in recent years, forcing residents to live under constant fear of abduction and violence.
