A young Nigerian lady has gone viral after sharing footage of the aftermath of a badly executed butterfly tattoo on her chest, revealing that the experience caused significant damage to both her skin and her mental health.
The lady, whose identity has not been confirmed, displayed what appears to be a severely scarred or infected area on her chest where the tattoo was applied, describing the ordeal in a video captioned: “How drawing a bad tattoo almost ruined my mental health.”
The visible damage to the skin around the tattoo site raises serious questions about the conditions under which the procedure was carried out, including whether sterile equipment was used, whether the tattoo artist was qualified, and whether proper aftercare instructions were provided.
Tattoo-related infections and scarring are a growing public health concern in West Africa, where the tattoo industry remains largely unregulated and practitioners operate without standardised training, licensing requirements, or mandatory hygiene protocols in many locations.
