Corona school graduates 52

The Corona School Trust Council has reaffirmed its commitment to raising students with strong academic excellence, leadership qualities and life skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

The commitment was reiterated in a statement issued by the school on Saturday following the graduation of 52 students from its Agbara Campus in Ogun State.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Principal of Corona School, Agbara, Mr. Innocent Oaikhena, said the graduating students had evolved from a diverse group of young learners into a class distinguished by academic excellence and outstanding extracurricular achievements.

According to him, the graduating class recorded some of the country’s highest scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination while also excelling in sports, music, arts and community service.

“They came in here with so much diversity in very many areas—background, talents, academic credits, extracurricular skills, interpersonal relations and music. Today, they have come up with distinctions in so many areas, including some of the highest results in UTME in the country and other notable record-breaking feats,” Oaikhena said.

Speaking on the theme, “Shaped by Diversity, Defined by Distinction,” the principal said the students had also demonstrated compassion by raising funds for underprivileged learners, donating digital devices and stocking libraries in underserved public schools.

The keynote speaker, Mr. Adeyinka Ogunnubi, Group Treasury Manager, CFAO Nigeria Plc, urged the graduates to embrace resilience, humility and hard work as they transition into a new phase of life.

Drawing lessons from Onuora Nzekwu’s Eze Goes to School, Ogunnubi reminded the graduates that privilege comes with responsibility, and that success requires perseverance, mentorship and consistent effort.

“Failure and rejection are inevitable. They are not verdicts on your worth. Opportunity favours those who are already working, not those waiting idly for it to arrive,” he said.

The ceremony also saw Miss Chikaima Nsofor emerge as the valedictorian after winning several academic and extracurricular awards.

Describing her as an exceptional all-round student, Oaikhena said, “She is academically gifted, a rugby player with medals to show for it, and—hand her a microphone—she becomes a formidable public speaker.”

Reacting, Chikaima’s mother, Mrs. Uchenna Nsofor, commended the school’s management and staff for nurturing students academically and morally.

She described Corona School as “a fertile ground for undiluted character development,” while appreciating the teachers for their dedication to the students’ overall growth.
