Filmhouse Group, in partnership with The Special Foundation, recently treated children from Roydek Academy and Waslat Schools to a special screening of Toy Story 5 at Filmhouse Cinemas, Circle Mall, Lagos.

The event, which took place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, marked the first collaboration between both organisations and was themed “Every Kid Has A Toy In Their Story.” It was designed to give the children an opportunity to experience the joy of storytelling, imagination and cinema.

For many of the children, the event marked their first visit to a cinema, making it a memorable introduction to the world of film. They enjoyed an exclusive screening of Toy Story 5, distributed in Nigeria by FilmOne Entertainment, alongside refreshments and other engaging activities.

The experience created an atmosphere of excitement and connection, as the children interacted, shared laughter and immersed themselves in the magic of the big screen.

The event was attended by representatives of both organisations, including the Group Chief Executive Officer of Filmhouse, Kene Okwuosa; Chief Marketing Officer, Mojisola Oladapo; and co-founder of The Special Foundation, Seyi Akinwale.

Speaking on the partnership, the organisations said the initiative reflected their shared commitment to creating meaningful experiences for children by using cinema as a tool to inspire creativity, curiosity and confidence.

They added that the collaboration aligns with Filmhouse Group’s efforts to expand the role of cinema beyond entertainment by supporting community-focused initiatives.

Through its engagement programmes, the company said it aims to provide 1,000 children with access to cinema experiences that inspire, entertain and create lasting memories.
