First African Church Mission Disowns Alleged New Board, Warns Public Against Fake Publications

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the First African Church Mission (TFACM) has dismissed reports circulating on some online platforms claiming that new members have been inaugurated into its Board, describing the publications as false and misleading.

The church in a public notice issued on Thursday, said the reports were sponsored by individuals it described as “disgruntled elements” and cautioned the public against relying on the information.

According to the notice signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Board, Sir (Barr.) A. A. Imabibo, those allegedly behind the publications include Sunday Matilukuro and Innocent Nwachukwu-Asonye.

The Board alleged that the duo are currently facing allegations of a criminal nature over the presentation of an amended TFACM Constitution, which they purportedly claimed had been stamped by the Federal Capital Territory High Court and approved by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The church further stated that both the FCT High Court and the Corporate Affairs Commission have separately denied the authenticity of those claims, insisting that the amended constitution being circulated lacks official backing.

The Board also clarified that it neither sanctioned nor approved the appointment or swearing-in of any individual or group as members of its Board of Trustees.

According to the statement, the issue surrounding the composition and constitutionality of the Board is already before the court in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/552/2026, making any purported inauguration premature and without legal authority.

The church maintained that the current membership of the Board of Trustees remains unchanged and is as officially contained in the records of the Corporate Affairs Commission.

While urging members of the church and the general public to disregard the online reports, the Board reaffirmed its commitment to due process and respect for ongoing judicial proceedings.

The church called on stakeholders to rely only on official communications from the Board regarding matters affecting the governance and administration of the First African Church Mission.
