Four Arrested After NYSC Lodge Robbery Leaves 36 Corps Members Stranded

In Adamawa State, four individuals have been detained for reportedly breaking into a corpers’ lodge in Yola, the state capital, and robbing 36 corps members of their phones and other belongings.

According to the Adamawa State Police Command, four stolen cell phones were recovered from the suspects in the theft of National Youth Service Corps members at their hostel at the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta, Yola.

The crime was allegedly perpetrated on June 27, 2026, by Elkana Ishaya, 17, of Clarck Quarters, Jimeta; Mubarak Abubakar, 22, of Galadima Street, Jimeta; Musa Umar, 30, of Samunaka; and Kabiru Tanko, 20, of Galadima Street, Jimeta.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, the State Police Public Relations Officer, claims that on that particular day, armed suspects broke into the NYSC lodge and stole the corps members’ possessions, including cell phones.

The suspects are being probed for alleged criminal conspiracy, possession of dangerous weapons, criminal trespass, and robbery, according to a statement from Nguroje.

He clarified that the four suspects were apprehended as a result of an inquiry that Karewa Area Command personnel launched as soon as they received the complaint.

The police also stated that they were still working to find more stolen goods and capture any other members of the robbery ring.

“Kabiru Umar Hassan, the Commissioner of Police, reiterated the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property, especially those of NYSC members serving in the state,” Nguroje said.
