Gunmen invade Rivers community, k!ll two residents


Gunmen have k!lled two people in Rumuodogo 2 Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The gunmen invaded the community on Monday morning, July 6, 2026 and broke into houses in a commando-style in search of their targets.
A woman simply identified as Monica who claimed her husband was among those attacked, alleged that the assailants came from a neighbouring community in another local government area bordering Rumuodogo 2 in Emohua LGA.
She said the attackers invaded their home at about 1AM, broke down their door, and forced her and her husband outside.
Monica alleged that the assailants manhandled her husband and shot him afterwards.
“They came by 1 a.m., broke our door and brought my husband and me outside. I was even naked when we were brought outside. They started beating my husband and shot him,” she narrated while fighting back tears.
“They wanted to k!ll me too, but one of them said they should leave me because I am a woman.
“They said our community was responsible for the k!lling of the persons whose d3ad bodies were discovered in the river last Monday.”
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Blessing Agabe, confirmed the incident.
“I can confirm the incident. Two persons were k!lled in the attack. Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the motive behind the attack and to arrest the perpetrators,” the PPRO said.
