Horror as woman gang raped after being held at knifepoint – 5 men arrested

A woman was allegedly gang raped after being held at knifepoint and beaten. Police confirmed five men have been arrested following the reported attack on Wednesday, July 8.
The victim, 33, was reportedly lured to a secluded location under the promise of a job. However, she was then held captive at knifepoint before being gang raped. It’s reported that the woman was abused and beaten before being sexually assaulted by a gang of men. Five of the suspects have now been arrested and remain in police custody, with the investigation ongoing.
As reported by The News Minute, the woman was allegedly gang raped in the district of Madurai in Tamil Nadu, India. The suspects have been identified as Veerapandi, Vinith, Aravind, Selvakumar, and Gopalakrishnan.
Police have charged each of them with gang-rape, criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt, rioting, and robbery. Meanwhile, a sixth attacker remains at large and detectives are working to track him down.
According to local media, the men posed as recruiters hiring for a domestic worker job. They reportedly lured the victim to an office before making her wait for five hours.
They then allegedly took her to a nearby village where she was held at knifepoint and gang raped. Before fleeing the scene, the men stole her phone, gold chain, and cash from her purse.
The woman was left at the scene before reporting the alleged rape to local police. Officers launched an immediate investigation and arrested five of the six suspects.
Madurai is an industrial hub located on the banks of the Vaigai River in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. As of 2026, the area had a population of just over 2.2 million people.
