Actor and skit creator Akinyoola Ayoola, often known as Kamo State, has denied rumors that he and actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele are at odds.
In an interview with a BBC service, Ayoola claimed that the perception of a breakup stemmed from their decreased public appearances, which he linked to their strenuous work obligations.
An actor has dismissed speculation of a fallout between himself and his colleague, Funke Akindele, insisting their relationship remains intact despite fewer joint public appearances.
He said they remain together, even closer than before, explaining that she has simply been preoccupied with her December project, which has limited their time together.
He added that he, too, has been less available than he was the previous year, noting that her prayer is that he continues to be called upon for projects.
The actor urged the public to desist from spreading false narratives about their relationship, stressing that there was no fight and that people should not paint a picture of discord where none exists.
Ayoola recounted meeting Akindele on the set of “Everybody Loves Jenifa,” describing her as a mentor and a major influence on his career.
He said she had been like a role model to him even before they met, adding that he loves her dearly.
He recalled that he once lost the key to a pair of handcuffs used on set, and that her concern over the incident, along with how she treated him generally, led him to begin calling her “mummy.”
According to him, Akindele’s support paved the way for his involvement in her productions, including “Aiyetoro” and “Behind the Scene.”
The clarification comes amid recent social media speculation that the two had fallen out following fewer joint appearances at film sets and public events.
Ayoola, however, maintained that their professional and personal relationship remains intact.
