Look At The Dirty Microwave — Ghanaian Expatriate In UK Shares Disappointment Over £700-a-Month Room

Published

A Ghanaian expatriate living in the UK has shared a video expressing frustration over a room he was offered for rent, saying its small size and poor condition did not match the £700 monthly asking price.

“This is the room I’m being asked to pay £700 per month for in the UK. It’s extremely small, and almost everything in it is in poor condition,” he said, showing the space in question.

The video adds to a wider, ongoing conversation among Ghanaians and other African migrants living in the UK regarding the country’s housing affordability crisis, which has seen rental costs rise sharply in recent years, particularly in major cities, while the availability and quality of budget accommodation has not kept pace with demand.

The exact location of the room, the identity of the landlord, and further details of the rental agreement have not been independently verified.

It is unclear whether the man ultimately accepted the rental or continued searching for alternative accommodation.
