Rufai Oseni to Daniel Bwala: ‘I Will Always Hold You Accountable’

Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni has said he will continue to hold Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, accountable for his public statements and political positions.
In a post on his verified X account, Oseni stressed that he has no personal issue with Bwala, describing him as his “brother.” However, he maintained that friendship would not prevent him from performing his duty as a journalist.
According to Oseni, criticism from the media should not be mistaken for hatred, as journalists have a responsibility to scrutinise public officials and ensure consistency in their public positions.
Addressing Bwala directly, he wrote:
“Dear Bwala, you still remain my brother but I will always hold you accountable. I have nothing against you”
Oseni also recalled that Bwala had previously praised his style of journalism before joining the Tinubu administration and had frequently appeared on his programme to criticise the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He questioned whether Bwala still stands by some of the views he expressed before becoming a presidential spokesman, arguing that this is the core issue being raised by journalists.
Oseni further referenced an earlier interview in which Bwala reportedly criticised former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, saying the public is entitled to know whether he still believes the positions he expressed at the time.
Concluding his remarks, Oseni rejected claims that the media is driven by hostility toward Bwala, insisting that journalists are simply carrying out their constitutional role of holding public officials accountable.
