MACBAN condemns Benue South killings, urges Alia to establish peace committee

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State has condemned the recent killings and attacks in the Benue South senatorial district.
In a statement issued in Makurdi on Thursday, the association’s state secretary, Ibrahim Galma, urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to establish a joint peace and security committee to address the growing insecurity.
Galma said the committee should include representatives of the Idoma, Igede, Agatu and Fulani communities in Zone C to promote dialogue and prevent further violence.
He also called on the Benue State government to increase security presence in affected communities, saying this would help strengthen peace, unity and peaceful coexistence.
Reaffirming MACBAN’s commitment to peace and the rule of law, Galma urged Fulani people across the state to remain calm and report their grievances through the appropriate authorities.
The statement said: “MACBAN Benue State Chapter calls on the Benue State Government, security agencies and traditional institutions to take immediate and decisive action.”
It added: “To constitute a Joint Peace and Security Committee comprising representatives of the Idoma, Igede and Agatu host communities, as well as Fulani stakeholders in Zone C, to foster dialogue and establish an early-warning mechanism.”
Galma also prayed for those killed in the attacks, asking Allah to grant them Aljannatul Firdaus and give their families and the injured the strength to bear their losses.
