Man sentenced to 20 years for s3xually abusing his 17-year-old daughter in Ghana


A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after being convicted of incest against his 17-year-old biological daughter in the Upper West Region, Ghana.
The convict, Kwame Ti-Zaaeku, was found guilty by the Lawra Circuit Court following investigations by the Lawra District Police, which established that he had repeatedly s3xually abused his daughter, a Junior High School student, over an extended period
Investigators also found that he threatened to k!ll the victim if she disclosed the abuse to anyone.
After a full trial on Friday, July 24, 2026, the Lawra Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Stanley Adjei, convicted Ti-Zaaeku on charges of incest and threat of d3ath.
The court sentenced him to 20 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for incest and 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for threat of d3ath, with both sentences to run concurrently.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the court directed the Department of Social Welfare in Lawra to provide counselling and psychosocial support to the survivor to aid her recovery.
The Upper West Regional Police Command praised the investigators and prosecutor for their professionalism and dedication, which led to the successful prosecution of the case.
The Command also urged members of the public to promptly report all cases of s3xual and domestic abuse to the police to ensure victims receive protection and perpetrators are brought to justice.
