Man st@bbed to d3ath by his friend during argument in Cross River community


A 36-year-old man, Charles Ekuma Eze, has d!ed after he was allegedly st@bbed by his friend during an argument in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at Etayip community in Ikom town, although the circumstances that led to the altercation were still unclear.
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, said the victim was allegedly st@bbed on the right rib with a dagger by one Micheal Ndifon, 42, during the argument.
He said the matter was reported at the Ikom Police Division by the Chairman of the community Task Force, Ndifon Nkang, and the Youth Leader, Felix Agbor.
According to Akata, the victim was initially rushed to Holy Family Hospital, Ikom, before he was referred to the Ebonyi State Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, where he later died while receiving treatment.
“The Task Force Chairman and Youth Leader of Asse-Asin Community reported that at about 5:46 p.m. on the same day, the suspect, Micheal Ndifon, allegedly st@bbed Charles Ekuma Eze with a dagger on his right rib during an argument,” the police spokesman said.
Akata said the suspect had been arrested and weapon has been recovered as an exhibit.
He added that the deceased’s remains had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy, noting that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
