A physically challenged beggar was killed in a multiple-vehicle crash at Car Park C along the outbound section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The Head of Media of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day.
He noted that the crash involved a container-laden Mack truck with registration number AGL 374 XX, a loaded DAF truck with registration number AKM 476 XB, and a white Toyota bus with registration number AKD 137 YA.
Akinbiyi stated that eyewitness account indicated that the Mack truck suffered brake failure while approaching the turning point, before ramming into vehicles that were making a turn.
He added that the loss of brake also resulted in the truck fatally hitting the physically challenged beggar, who was in a wheelchair.
He stated, “According to eyewitness accounts, the MACK truck had a brake failure and hit vehicles negotiating a turning, and a beggar on wheels chair, slicing his body.
“Traffic outbound Lagos route is highly affected. TRACE Operatives, FRSC, and the police are on the ground doing the needful.”
He noted that efforts to remove the accident vehicles and restore free flow of traffic were ongoing as of the time of filing this report.

One person had also lost his life while two others sustained injuries in the accidents according to the FRSC.
