Playing Motunde changed my life — Motunde Sogunle

Actress and content creator, Motunde Sogunle, popularly known for playing Motunde, the fictional daughter of social media skit maker, Mr Macaroni, has said the role has opened many doors for her career.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, when asked if playing the character had made it difficult for people to discover her acting range, Sogunle said the popularity of Motunde had been both a blessing and a challenge.
“I think that’s the blessing and the challenge of playing a character that people genuinely love. Motunde has opened so many doors for me, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. But yes, sometimes people see the comedy first and forget that I’m a trained actor. They forget that I can do drama, romance, action, suspense—I’m not limited to one lane.I actually see that as an opportunity, not a setback. Every new role is a chance to surprise people and remind them that acting is about transformation. If I play every character the same way, then I’m not growing as an actor. So I’m excited for audiences to see the many sides of me. Motunde introduced me to the world, but she’s only one chapter of the story. There’s so much more that I can’t wait to show,” she said.
Speaking on how working with Mr Macaroni has impacted her career, Sogunle described the experience as one of the biggest blessings of her career, adding that she had learnt valuable lessons about consistency, professionalism and excellence.
“Working with Mr Macaroni has been one of the biggest blessings of my career. Beyond the laughs, he’s taught me that consistency, professionalism, and excellence never go out of style. He’s incredibly intentional about his work and being around that has challenged me to always give my best, stay prepared, and respect everyone. It also showed me that talent alone isn’t enough. Character, discipline, and treating people well are just as important if you want a long-lasting career and peace of mind honestly.”
