Presidency denies rumors Defence Minister Christopher Musa is resigning

Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga has clarified that the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), is not resigning from his position, confirming that the minister remains fully committed and focused on his national security mandate.

In a statement released on X, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy emphasised Musa’s dedication to Nigeria’s overarching defence strategy, noting that positive outcomes are already visible.

The clarification follows earlier statements from General Musa himself, who dismissed the claims as baseless and threatened legal action against those spreading the report.

Addressing reporters at the Presidential Villa after briefing President Bola Tinubu on the country’s security situation, the minister maintained that he had never discussed stepping down with anyone.

General Musa was appointed as Defence Minister in December 2025, transitioning into the cabinet post following his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff to succeed Mohammed Abubakar.
