Protect your children – Nigerian doctor advises parents as he reveals case of 7-year-old boy infected with HIV after being s0domised by man in Kebbi

A doctor at the Kebbi Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi has revealed that a 7-year-old was infected with HIV after he was s3xually abused by a man.
.....
Dr. Mustapha Mohammed, who disclosed this in a Facebook post on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 said the boy was presented to the heath facility with a history of chronic diarrhea and weight loss.
On further examination, the boy was found to have rectal prolapse and tested positive for both Tuberculosis and HIV.
During investigation, the minor revealed that a man had been s0domising him.
According to the boy, the man threatened to k!ll him if he disclosed the abuse.
The doctor also shared the case of a 15-year-old girl who contracted HIV after being abused by multiple men while hawking for her stepmother.
The doctor advised parents and guardians to protect their children and teach them about “bad touch”.
“The first half of 2026 is gone but two similar tragic case scenarios of Child Abuse (S3xually) stay with me. Nowadays, both genders are not spared,” he wrote.
Case 1: A 7 year old boy who is an orphan, was brought to children clinic by his mother with complaints of Diarrhea for 6 months and Weight Loss for 5 months.
For the duration of his illness, PPMVs and Herbal Concoction were administered but no improvement. Upon further evaluation, the child was also having rectal prolapse.
Urgent investigation to screening the child for Tuberculosis (Stool GeneXpert) and STI (specifically HIV) was requested.
Unfortunately, the child tested POSITIVE for both diseases. The mother was immediately tested but she was NEGATIVE.
Digging more on how the child contracted the STI (HIV), the child mentioned an adult (young man) who sexually abused him via t he anus and threatened to kill him if he (the boy) ever mention his name.

It was really hard for the mother to comprehend after she had sold out her belongings to give babalawo who mentioned that the child is being attacked by an old woman who is a witch.
Case 2: same as case 1, but here the victim is a 15 year old girl who lost her mother a year ago and was hawking food for her step-mom following which she was abused by multiple men and contracted STI (specifically HIV).
Both child were handed over to healthcare professionals at SAC (Sexual Abuse Clinic) for proper management and also bring the perpetrators to justice.
Some people are monsters and can traumatize you and your child (or children) for life.
Take home messages:
1. Protect your children and make them your friends so they could voice out any abnormal behavior directed at them by an adult.
2. Teach your children about “bad touch” so they could report anyone who touched them badly to you.
3. Question any suspicious behavior directed towards your children or child.
4. Always look out for where your child goes to play or who he plays with.
5. Any suspicious act of abuse against your child or children, report to SAC clinic or NAPTIP
SPEAK OUT FOR CHILDREN BECAUSE THEIR VULNERABLE.
May protect us and our children against monsters.
May we have a country where children are safe.
May we have a country where peace and justice shall reign. May God bless Nigeria.
