Rhodes Vivour Reveals Strategy to Win Lagos Without Obi or Obidient Movement

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Lagos State African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for governor in the general elections of 2027, has disclosed how he will run without the support of the Obidient movement or former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.

Featuring in an interview online, The Morning Brief’ on Thursday, Rhodes-Vivour argued that years of grassroots mobilisation have positioned him for the race.

He was replying to concerns on how he intended to prosecute his campaign after Obi’s resignation from the ADC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, amid the party’s internal legal challenges.

He said that his grassroots network and political profile had expanded significantly since the 2023 governorship race and that he would win the election by working hard.

“Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour in 2023 is not the same as Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour in 2026.”

We have been doing the work, we have been constructing infrastructure in communities, we have entrenched ourselves. We are standing for the people,” he said.

The ADC governorship candidate claimed that his interactions with Lagos citizens impacted by demolitions had improved his relationship with local communities and reaffirmed his vision for the state.

“In 2023, we had a great run. There are no problems between us; His Excellency Peter Obi is an excellent candidate.

He continued, “I simply felt that Lagos has a unique kind of politics that requires a broad-based coalition across generations, across tribes, across people with different experiences, and we achieved that.”
