Shari’a Court orders pregnancy test for divorcee

A Shari’a Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna on Monday ordered for a pregnancy test to be conducted on a divorcee, Khadija Abdurrahman.
The Judge, Malam Mu’awiya Shehu, ordered that the couple should go to the Yusuf Dantsoho General Hospital in Kaduna for the test.
Shehu ordered them to present the result of the test on August 11, 2026.
Earlier, a businessman, Muhammad Auwal, had pleaded with the court to help him determine whether his former wife was pregnant.
Auwal’s Counsel, M. Salahuddeen, said his client divorced Abdurrahman in March.
The petitioner said: “She called me, disturbing me with unverified claims of pregnancy.
“She has also called to inform me that she was not pregnant.
“I want the court to help me confirm if she’s truly pregnant so that I will take full responsibility.
“If she is not pregnant, the court should give a binding order for her not to disturb me again.”
On her part, Abdurrahman said: “I only called him once to inform him about the pregnancy.
“He also disturbs me with calls.”
