Singer Don Gz releases Afrobeat single

Wales-based Nigerian Afrobeat artiste Don Gz has released a new single titled Oh My Days, a song that explores themes of love, vulnerability and emotional expression while remaining rooted in the rhythmic essence of Afrobeat.
The singer, whose real name is Emmanuel Eze Ogwa, said the track reflects his commitment to creating music that resonates with listeners on a personal level rather than simply following commercial trends.
According to Don Gz, the inspiration behind Oh My Days came from genuine emotions and a desire to tell relatable stories through music.
“With Oh My Days, I wanted to make a song that people could genuinely feel. Afrobeat is evolving, and I believe there’s room for records that are not only enjoyable but also emotionally honest. My goal was to create something that listeners could connect with long after the music stops,” he said.

The single is built around warm melodies, restrained production and an easy-flowing Afrobeat rhythm, with a strong focus on storytelling and vocal expression rather than elaborate production.
Explaining his creative approach, the artiste said simplicity was intentional.
“Sometimes the most powerful songs are the simplest ones. I didn’t want to overcomplicate the lyrics or the production. I wanted every word and every melody to feel natural because authenticity is very important to me as an artist,” he added.
Don Gz described the release as another milestone in his artistic journey, saying it reflects his growing confidence and evolving identity within the global Afrobeat scene.
“Every release is an opportunity to grow. I’m becoming more confident in who I am creatively, and Oh My Days reflects that growth. I’m focused on making timeless music that people can relate to rather than following every trend,” he said.
Music observers have noted that Oh My Days stands out for its balance of melody and emotion, with clean production, a memorable hook and understated vocal delivery.
Unlike many contemporary Afrobeat songs that depend heavily on layered production and effects, the track adopts a more restrained sound, allowing its lyrics and vocals to take centre stage.
Professionally known as Don Gz, Emmanuel Eze Ogwa is a Nigerian Afrobeat artiste based in Wales. He continues to build his profile by blending contemporary Afrobeat with melodic songwriting and emotionally driven performances as he seeks to establish a distinctive identity within the genre.
