Suspected herders k!ll 60-year-old farmer in Plateau community


Gunmen suspected to be herders have k!lled a 60-year-old man, Bulus Turu, in Miango District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The National Publicity Secretary of Irigwe Youth Movement, Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday, 31st July 2026.
According to Mr. Yonkpa, the victim was macheted to d3ath by the assailants while returning from his farm on Thursday.
“Mr Bulus Turu was attacked and macheted by suspected Fulani herders/militia while returning from his farm to Ancha community in Miango District,” the statement read.
“His remains were recovered this morning.
“Prior to this unfortunate incident, Mr. Turu was originally from Rotsu village in the same Miango District.
“He was displaced to Ancha village following persistent and aggressive attacks continually meted out on our people in Rotsu.
“Left behind to mourn him are his two (2) wives, eleven (11) children, and other relatives.
“This recent attack is part of the continuous onslaught against the Irigwe people by Fulani militias and their cohorts, aimed at causing unrest, displacement, and the annihilation of our people.
“May his soul rest in peace, even as we continue to demand justice and stability in our community.”
