Media personality Toke Makinwa has advised women to prioritise emotional maturity when choosing a life partner.
In a post shared on social media, the mother of one urged women to seek partners who check on them after disagreements rather than withdraw and leave them to deal with emotional pain alone.
According to Makinwa, the right partner remains present during difficult moments, seeks understanding, and values resolving conflicts instead of trying to win every argument.
She added that a man who can pause in the middle of a disagreement, offer comfort, and apologise sincerely because he values the relationship more than his ego is the kind of partner worth building a future with.
“Marry the man who calls you after an argument just to make sure you’re okay. Not the one who leaves you alone with your tears.
Choose the man who stays when things get hard and wants to understand you, not defeat you.
A man who can pause, hold you, and say ‘I’m sorry’, because your relationship matters more to him than his ego,” she wrote.
