What we discussed during my meeting with Tinubu — Badejo-Okusanya

President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has disclosed that her meeting with President Bola Tinubu focused on her election victory, the association’s electronic voting system and measures to strengthen its internal processes.

Badejo-Okusanya spoke with journalists on Tuesday after paying a courtesy visit to the President at the State House, Abuja.

According to her, Tinubu congratulated her on emerging as the next NBA president and discussed the role of technology in improving the association’s electoral process.

“He congratulated me on the victory. We talked about the challenges of electronic voting and technology, and we spoke about the ways in which we can continue to improve on our processes. It was very encouraging,” she said.

The senior lawyer also outlined her priorities ahead of her inauguration at the end of August, saying she would focus on reconciling aggrieved members and restoring unity within the association.

“My swearing-in is not until the end of August. In the meantime, I continue to reach out to members and stakeholders so that we can work together to improve things, heal any hurt and ensure that the NBA continues to fulfil its role in society,” she said.

She assured members that her administration would be committed to strengthening the association and addressing internal concerns.

“Everything that needs to be done, I can assure members and the public that I will do. We’ll make sure that we unite ourselves. We’ll make sure that we put our house in order,” Badejo-Okusanya added.

Badejo-Okusanya is expected to be sworn in as president of the NBA at the association’s annual general conference scheduled for the end of August.
