Youth leader k!lled in another attack on Benue community

A youth leader, Sunday Ogoh, was k!lled after gunmen launched a fresh attack on Ondo community in Ugboju district of Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue State.

The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, July 14, 2026 barely 48 hours after gunmen k!lled 18 people in Otukpo-Nobi community, another community in Otukpo LGA.

Residents said the gunmen invaded the community around 5am and started shooting sporadically, k!lling one person and fatally injuring another.

A resident, who preferred anonymity, said many have fled their homes following the incident.
Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Maxwell Ogiri, who confirmed the incident, said the attack was swiftly repelled by combined security operatives, but not before one indigene lost his life.

He added that security personnel have since launched a manhunt for the attackers.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Udeme Edet, has confirmed the incident, saying security operatives have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
