20 Year Old Arrested Over Alleged Killing of Friend in Jigawa

Saminu Ibrahim, a 20-year-old suspect, has been taken into custody by the Jigawa State Police Command in relation to the suspected murder of his companion after a violent dispute in the state’s Ringim Local Government Area.

This was revealed in a statement released on Monday in Dutse by police spokesperson SP Lawan Shiisu Adam.

He said the arrest formed part of a series of security breakthroughs recorded by the command in its ongoing efforts to maintain law and order across Jigawa State.

According to the statement, the command received a report at about 10:30am on Monday regarding a culpable homicide incident that occurred at Dabigel Village in Ringim LGA.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident began as a misunderstanding between two 20-year-old youths, which escalated into violence, during which one of them allegedly st@bbed the other in the chest with a sharp metal object locally known as Danbuda.

The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed d£ad by a medical doctor.

The police said operatives swiftly arrested the suspect, identified as Saminu Ibrahim of Gidan Gona Village, Ringim LGA, in connection with the incident.

SP Shiisu said the case was under investigation and that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further investigation, adding that upon completion of the investigation, he would be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction to face prosecution.
