2027: INEC begins display of EC9 forms for presidential, NASS candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the display of Form EC9 (Affidavit in Support of Personal Particulars) submitted by candidates sponsored by political parties for the Presidential, Senatorial and House of Representatives elections in Lagos State.
The exercise, which began on Saturday, is in line with Section 29 of the Electoral Act, 2022, and is aimed at promoting transparency in the electoral process by allowing members of the public to scrutinise the credentials and personal particulars submitted by candidates.
In a public notice issued by the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity (VEP), Mrs. Esther Emeh, the commission said the Forms EC9 would be displayed at the INEC Lagos State Office in Sabo-Yaba as well as at the commission’s Local Government Area offices within the affected constituencies.
According to the commission, the displayed documents contain the personal particulars, educational credentials and affidavits submitted by candidates nominated by their respective political parties.
INEC urged registered political parties, candidates, stakeholders and members of the public to take advantage of the exercise by inspecting the documents.
The commission noted that any individual who believes that a candidate submitted false information or forged documents could seek legal redress in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
It reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and the conduct of free, fair and credible elections, assuring Nigerians that it would continue to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
The commission also reaffirmed its resolve to strengthen democracy through credible elections, urging citizens to remain actively engaged in the electoral process.
