A six-year-old boy, identified as Pranay Teja, has died after he was allegedly slapped by his teacher for not completing his homework at Little Garden School in Andhra Pradesh, India.
According to reports, the teacher, identified as Anuradha, scolded the boy before allegedly slapping him on the cheek.
Security camera footage reportedly captured the incident. Seconds after the slap, the boy appeared to become unresponsive and collapsed in the classroom.
Other teachers reportedly tried to revive him before rushing him to King George Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Initial reports suggested that the boy may have suffered a heart attack linked to panic or shock. However, police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death and are also checking whether he had any underlying health condition. An autopsy is expected to provide further information.
After learning about the incident and seeing the footage, the boy’s parents and relatives reportedly gathered at the school and hospital, demanding justice.
Authorities have since opened an investigation into the case, while the teacher and school administration are expected to face questions over the boy’s death.
