Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved one million naira each for 31 people from the state who recently came back from South Africa.
The money is meant as immediate help to show them they have not been forgotten during this difficult time.
The government is now profiling each returnee to understand their individual circumstances and what they need.
This will help the state create targeted support programmes that fit each person’s specific situation so they can successfully reintegrate into society.
The governor’s action reflects his commitment to caring for vulnerable people across the state.
Since taking office, Otti has focused on policies and programmes that protect the dignity and wellbeing of citizens going through hardship.
The government sent a clear message that Abia remains home for all its sons and daughters, and no one will be left behind regardless of where they are or what they are facing.
