An angry mob has heavily descended on a suspected ATM thief in Jos, Plateau State, yesterday, after he allegedly attempted to scam a customer at a First Bank branch near the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
According to the report, the suspect was apprehended by members of the public after his scheme was uncovered.
A search reportedly found him in possession of over 30 different ATM cards, raising suspicions that he was part of a wider fraud operation targeting unsuspecting bank customers.
His alleged accomplices are said to have fled the scene in a car immediately after he was caught, leaving him to face the mob alone.
The suspect has since been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation. Before then, multiple dirty slaps were landed on his face.
The incident has sparked renewed conversation online about the prevalence of ATM-related scams in the country and the growing vigilance of bank customers and passersby in catching suspects in the act.
