Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says if he wins the 2027 presidential election, he’ll bring back fuel subsidy.
He argues that removing the subsidy hasn’t helped Nigeria at all.
President Tinubu ended fuel subsidy when he took office in May 2023, a move that immediately made life harder for Nigerians.
Prices for goods and services jumped dramatically.
The current government says it’s since given states more money and started building infrastructure projects across the country.
Atiku used to accept the subsidy removal, but now he’s changed his mind.
He’s questioning where all the subsidy money went and whether it’s been spent on healthcare, education or security.
If elected, he’ll restore the subsidy and force anyone who stole Nigeria’s subsidy funds to pay the money back.
Atiku is running against President Tinubu and Peter Obi, who represents another opposition party.
