Cameroon Arrests 23 Year Old With Hidden Ammunition Near Borno Border

Cameroonian security personnel have detained a 23-year-old individual apprehended transporting substantial quantities of 7.62mm ammunition concealed in containers whilst travelling by motorcycle through the Far North Region, proximate to the Gamboru axis adjacent to Borno State.

Moussa Ngoudja, a Cameroonian national originating from Sueram in Fotokol, was intercepted at approximately 6:30 a.m. on August 9 during an operation conducted by the Dougoumslio Slio Village Vigilance Committee.

Officers discovered three containers housing multiple rounds of ammunition concealed within his motorcycle cargo.

The interdiction has provoked alarm regarding ammunition circulation through border communities, particularly given the locality’s proximity to Gamboru and neighbouring zones experiencing operations by terrorist and criminal networks active throughout the Lake Chad Basin region.

During preliminary questioning, Ngoudja allegedly stated that he had obtained the ammunition from Mada in Makary, Cameroon, and was transporting it toward Mdego Village in Fotokol.

He currently remains detained at the Hilé Alifa Gendarmerie Brigade whilst investigators pursue questions concerning the ammunition’s procurement sources and potential involvement of additional individuals or trafficking networks in its movement across borders.
