In an interview with BBC, she explained that the unusual gift was her way of rewarding Promise for making her proud, completing his studies and, most importantly, staying away from cultism.

According to the mother, she had promised to surprise her son if he successfully finished school without disappointing her.

“I don’t have money for a 4matic jeep, and I love that guy, my son. I said, let me buy this goat as a gift,” she said.

Chinyere revealed that she spent N120,000 on the goat and was willing to spend even more to fulfil the promise she had made to her son.

She said she was particularly proud that Promise remained respectful, focused on his studies and stayed away from cultism.

Promise, who is also a footballer, said he initially thought his classmates were calling him to witness an engagement ceremony after hearing students shouting, “say yes.”

He said he was shocked when he discovered that his mother had brought a goat specifically for him.

Promise said he was deeply emotional and happy about the gesture, adding that he had no reason to feel ashamed of his mother or the unusual gift.
