Kebbi Governor Reunites 5 Children With Their Families

Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris has facilitated the reunion of five minors rescued from suspected human tr@ffickers with their families.

The children had allegedly been intercepted whilst en route from Kebbi South Senatorial District toward Edo State.

The governor, represented by Deputy Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, transferred custody of the rescued minors to their parents in Birnin-Kebbi whilst delivering stern warnings against allowing strangers access to children under pretexts of educational advancement.

Governor Idris emphasised parental obligation to safeguard and nurture their offspring, cautioning against entrusting children to individuals of unverified identity or undisclosed locations.

He warned that the state government would pursue appropriate remedial action against parents who deliberately abdicate parental responsibilities, permitting children to be removed to unknown destinations.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons commandant disclosed that the minors had been extracted from parents in Danko-Wasagu and Zuru Local Government Areas under the guise of modern educational institution enrolment.

Officers intercepted the group in Gusau, Zamfara State, during transport toward Edo.

Five suspects have been apprehended, whilst one remains outstanding.

NAPTIP requested government provision of specialised accommodation facilities within command premises for housing rescued victims throughout ongoing investigative processes.

The State Secretary to Government confirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting child protection initiatives and combating human tr@fficking operations throughout the state.
