Killings: Benue APC chairman calls for unity to tackle insecurity

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Benjamin Omale, has called for collaboration among all levels of government, traditional rulers, religious leaders, stakeholders, youth, and communities to address the insecurity affecting some parts of the state.
Omale also urged the people of the Benue South senatorial district to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
He made this appeal on Saturday during his visit to communities recently affected by violence in the senatorial district.
Several communities, including Otukpo Nobi, Efuyi Ugboju, Olahimu, Ankpechi, and Ondo Ugboju, in the Otukpo and Ohinmini Local Government Areas have experienced tragic incidents, with numerous people losing their lives and many others suffering varying degrees of injuries.
The APC chairman condemned the killings of innocent lives, the destruction of property, and all forms of violence against citizens. He acknowledged the pain, fear, and trauma experienced by these communities.
According to him, “Let me appeal to our people to remain calm and peaceful; let us restrain from any form of retaliation or revenge; let no one take laws into their hands.
“I also urge our people to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information at the right time to avert subsequent attacks.
The chairman praised the security agents for their sacrifices and urged them to remain vigilant. He charged them with the responsibility of apprehending the attackers to ensure that justice is served.
He encouraged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information in a timely manner to help prevent future attacks.
The party chairman also commended President Bola Tinubu and the state governor, Hyacinth Alia, for their tireless efforts in ensuring the safety of every Nigerian, emphasizing that no life is worth losing.
While extending his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and affected communities, the chairman prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and comfort for their loved ones.
During his visit, Omale donated relief materials to the victims to help alleviate the effects of the attacks on the survivors.
