The President of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has offered postgraduate scholarship opportunities to lecturers of Elrazi Medical University, Kano, as part of efforts to strengthen academic collaboration and institutional development.

Mr Gwarzo made the offer when he led a delegation from MAAUN on a courtesy visit to Elrazi Medical University.

The delegation was received by the management of the university, led by its Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yarube Isyaku Umar.

During the visit, Mr Gwarzo expressed MAAUN’s readiness to partner with and support Elrazi Medical University in areas where it requires additional expertise and institutional capacity.

He said MAAUN, with more than 15,000 students across its various institutions and programmes, was prepared to support and mentor Elrazi Medical University in academic development, research, innovation, quality assurance and internationalisation.

The education entrepreneur also invited Elrazi Medical University to join the Association of African Private Universities (AAPU) and MAAUN’s research arm, the Institute of Africa Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

Mr Gwarzo commended Elrazi for establishing what he described as a strong foundation for the university and urged its management to sustain efforts to improve its academic standards through training, workshops, conferences and other professional development programmes.

Following extensive discussions on the internationalisation of education, he advised the university to pursue competitive research grants and focus its research activities on areas capable of addressing pressing societal challenges.

He said collaboration among private universities would help strengthen academic standards, promote research and expand opportunities for academics and students.

Responding, the management of Elrazi Medical University expressed appreciation to Gwarzo and the MAAUN delegation for the visit and the opportunities offered to the institution.

The University Librarian expressed interest in collaborating with MAAUN on research, conferences, colloquia and other academic activities.

The management also sought MAAUN’s support in strengthening the university’s admission processes and quality assurance mechanisms.

Specifically, Elrazi requested MAAUN’s quality assurance team to conduct a pre-assessment of its facilities ahead of its accreditation exercise.

According to the university, the assessment would help identify areas requiring improvement and ensure compliance with relevant academic and infrastructural standards.

The visit ended with a tour of Elrazi Medical University’s facilities, including its library, laboratories, hostels and lecture rooms.
