A TikTok user has gone viral after claiming he lost ₦1 million following a cash withdrawal from a roadside Point of Sale (POS) operator, prompting him to warn others to exercise caution when using such services.
According to the man, he was travelling when he used his FCMB debit card to withdraw cash from a roadside POS terminal. He said the transaction appeared successful and gave him no reason to suspect anything was wrong.
However, later that night, he received a debit alert notifying him that ₦1 million had been withdrawn from his account without his authorization.
Alarmed by the transaction, he said he immediately reported the incident to his bank. According to him, bank officials informed him that the unauthorized withdrawal was traced to the last POS terminal he had used.
He further alleged that the stolen funds were transferred into a betting account.
The TikTok user believes his card details may have been compromised during the POS transaction and urged Nigerians to be cautious when using roadside POS services, particularly those operated without a permanent business location.
He advised people to use only trusted POS operators and remain vigilant when making cash withdrawals to reduce the risk of fraud.
