Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) announced he plans to vote to confirm acting Attorney General Todd Blanche despite acknowledging concerns about “apparent lawfare” and lawsuits against President Donald Trump’s political enemies.

“All considered, I will vote for Mr. Blanche,” Cassidy said, adding, “I’ll be criticized for this vote.”

And he was.

During MSNBC’s postmortem analysis, national security reporter David Rohde said, “This is a referendum on Donald Trump’s second term, which has unprecedented corruption.”

“I think this vote puts our midterm elections in danger and our democracy in danger.”

More significantly, MS NOW business analyst Ron Insana highlighted, “If I heard Senator Cassidy correctly, he said that the president will now be in charge of the Justice Department and not the other way around,” adding, “It will not be independent.”
