AbdulRazaq receives 163 rescued Kwara kidnap victims in Ilorin

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, governor of Kwara State, has officially received 163 kidnap victims who were recently rescued by combined security forces in Ilorin, the state capital.

During the handover by the Nigerian Army on Friday, the governor congratulated Bola Tinubu on the success of the rescue operations.

He also commended the security agencies for their collaboration, valour and commitment to strengthening peace and security in the state.

Earlier, the state government had confirmed the release of residents abducted from Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama LGA.

Olayinka Fafoluyi, media aide to the governor, announced the development in a Facebook post.

“Alihamdulillaah and kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, security forces, and everyone who played a role in this huge feat. We are grateful!” Fafoluyi wrote.

The victims were abducted on February 3 when armed assailants launched coordinated attacks on Woro, Nuku, and surrounding settlements in Kaiama LGA.

The attacks claimed the lives of at least 75 people, displaced many residents, and left several communities devastated.

Although the exact number of those abducted remains unclear, reports estimated that about 170 women, children, and other residents were taken away by the attackers.

In April, a video circulated on social media showing one of the abducted women appealing to the state government to intensify efforts to secure their release.
