The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has struck down a suspected t3rrorist enclave in Borno State, neutralising roughly 12 suspected insurgents in a precision air raid carried out as part of Operation HADIN KAI.

The development was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who said the strike was executed on August 4 following intelligence reports pointing to fresh insurgent movement around Chiralia, a thickly forested area long suspected of serving as a hideout for armed groups because of its rugged, hard-to-access terrain.

Per the account, an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform was sent up at around 11:40 a.m. to conduct armed reconnaissance over the location.

While surveilling the area, the aircraft reportedly picked out suspected insurgents on the move, along with a number of hidden structures suspected of functioning as shelters, logistics depots and staging points for the group’s activities.

Once the targets were verified, attack aircraft moved in with precision strikes, scoring direct hits on the concealed structures, according to the report.

A post-strike Battle Damage Assessment reportedly confirmed that the suspected insurgent camp, along with its support infrastructure, had been destroyed, with about 12 fighters neutralised in the process.

Makama added that secondary blasts and fires seen after the strike pointed to the destruction of additional weapons, equipment and supplies stored within the enclave.

Military sources described the operation as intelligence-led, pointing to it as evidence of deepening coordination between aerial surveillance and precision-strike capability under Operation HADIN KAI.

They said the strike is expected to erode the cell’s operational strength by cutting off its safe haven and hampering its capacity to regroup, plan fresh attacks, and maintain logistics in the area.

Makama noted that while the broader security situation in the theatre remains fairly stable, military authorities still regard the threat as unpredictable, given the fluid movement patterns of insurgent groups.

He added that troops will keep up sustained offensive operations against insurgent hideouts across the North-East.
