Nigerian man jailed for r@pe and s3xual assault of women in UK

A Nigerian man, Olukanyinsola Odebode was jailed for 12 years in the United Kingdom after he r@ped one woman before going on to s3xually assault another while he was on bail.
The 30-year-old “humiliated and degraded” his two victims and filmed “some of the s3xual activity.”, Swansea Crown Court heard on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The defendant, of Gainsborough Road, Cefn Golau, Tredegar, was found guilty by a jury of one count of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.
Odebode had denied the allegations during his trial and continues to show a “lack of insight” into his offending, Swansea Crown Court heard.
“The defendant humiliated and degraded his victims,” Mark Wyeth KC, prosecuting, said.
“He is a danger to females in the Wales and England areas.
“The defendant recorded and filmed some of the s3xual activity.
“There were life-altering consequences for his victims.”
Matthew Murphy representing Odebode, who was described as “highly-educated”, asked the court to take into account his client’s lack of any previous convictions.
Judge Huw Rees told the defendant of the first victim: “You threatened her and said, ‘I’m going to ruin your life.’ That left her scared.”
She pleaded for you to stop but you persisted. She started to cry.”
This woman described Odebode as a “predator”
The judge added: “The effect on your victims has been profound.”
“The probation report writer was struck by your lack of insight into your offending.
“You pose a significant risk to members of the public.”
For the first set of offences, Odebode was jailed for five years for the r@pe and a consecutive term of three years for the assault by penetration, making a sentence of eight years’ imprisonment.
A consecutive term of 12 months was imposed for the assault by penetration of the second victim, which resulted in a term of nine years.
As part of a sentence for the protection of the public, Judge Rees imposed a further three years on extended licence.
The total sentence was therefore 12 years.
Odebode will have to serve two-thirds of the custodial period of nine years before he is eligible for parole.
He will have to register as a s3x offender for life.
