The National Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the governorship election.

Dickson, in a statement, described Adeleke’s victory as significant not only for the governor and the people of Osun State but also for Nigeria’s democracy.

He said the outcome demonstrated that citizens could still assert their democratic will through the ballot despite the challenges confronting the country’s political environment.

“I warmly congratulate the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the Osun State Governorship Election,” Dickson said.

“This victory is significant not only for Governor Adeleke and the people of Osun State, but also for our democracy. It is a reminder that, even in an increasingly challenging political environment, the people can still assert their democratic will through the ballot,” he added.

The former Bayelsa State governor also commended Osun voters for defending what he described as their democratic choice during the election.

“I commend the people of Osun State for standing firm in defence of their democratic choice,” he said.

Dickson subsequently called on candidates who contested against Adeleke to accept the outcome in the spirit of sportsmanship and contribute to the development of the state.

He urged them to put political differences aside and work with the governor for the benefit of the people.

“I call on all those who contested the election and emerged on the losing side to join hands with the Governor in the spirit of sportsmanship and work for the peace and development of Osun State,” Dickson said.

He concluded by wishing Adeleke and the people of Osun continued peace, progress and prosperity.
