Prominent Lagos Cleric Faces Shocking Decades Old Misconduct Allegations

The head of a Lagos-based church, Obiajunwa Onukogu, known as Daddy Hezekiah, has been accused of s+xually ab¥sing two women when they were children attending church activities more than 20 years ago.

The allegations come from written statements by Kelechi Ibe, 39, and Onyekachi J. Eze, 40, who have decided to speak publicly after remaining silent for decades.

Both women say the ab¥se happened in the 1990s when they were members of a church group called “Princess of Daddy Hezekiah,” which was for young girls.

The group participated in programmes held in Port Harcourt, Onitsha, and at the church’s main office in Nkwerre, Imo State.

According to their accounts, parents would often leave after the opening days of these church gatherings, leaving the girls under the care of church officials.

The women allege that they were repeatedly called to the cleric’s private quarters.

Church officials told them they were going there to have their virginity confirmed, but once there, they say they were subjected to inappropriate s+xual touching while still minors.

They also claim they were warned not to tell anyone not their parents, not other group members, nobody.

Ibe said the ab¥se started when she was about 12 or 13 years old and happened repeatedly during church conventions.

She eventually spoke about it after talking with her sister, who was also a former group member and had similar experiences.

Eze’s experience began during a church visit to Onitsha and continued after she later joined the group in Port Harcourt.

After discovering that their stories matched, the two women believe other former members may have gone through the same thing.

They mentioned several other names Nkechi Nwofor, Angela Michael, Sopuruchukwu, Nkiru Arum, Vivian Nmezi, and Ihegboro Chibuzo as people they say have also come forward with their own accounts.

Both women said the alleged ab¥se has had lasting emotional effects on them over the years.

They hope that by sharing their experiences, other survivors will feel encouraged to speak out as well.

As of the time this report was made, Onukogu and Living Christ Mission had not officially responded to the allegations.
