A medical doctor has shared a traumatic experience she suffered while returning late from work.
Nwa Amaka said she worked late at the hospital, saving lives, and returned home at about 10p.m. Due to the time and how tired she was, she had no idea she was being followed until she got into her compound and her family was attacked.
She said the incident left her traumatised for a long time.
She shared her story following the murd£r of Doctor Stephen Vanman who left home for work and was never seen alive again.
Dr. Vanman, was found d£ad, with multiple stab wounds on Sunday, August 9, at Market Junction, along Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
Dr. Nwa Amaka said she heard from her medical doctor daughter, who knew Vanman, that the late doctor was the kind of person you would want to have in your corner.
She wrote: ‘Some years ago, on my way home from night duty, this should be about past 10 pm, I had a very horrible experience.
‘I didn’t realise, possibly because of how tired I was, that I was being followed. And as I drove into my compound, the car doors (driver and passenger) were yanked open with such speed and force that I had no time to process what was happening.
‘Next thing I knew, I was pulled out of the car and it was then I saw the g0n pointed right at my forehead.
‘Before I could even react, the young man gave me a brain resetting slap, took my glasses off my face and flung it away.
‘”Take us to your flat!” He barked.
‘I opened my mouth and heard myself say: “If you know where you threw those glasses, go and bring it back because I can’t move one step from here without them.”
‘He looked at me like I was dumb or plain had a death wish but when he saw I wasn’t moving or even shaking, he went, picked it up and gave back to me. I then realised there was another young man standing slightly behind me, pointing another g0n at me and these were no “small pikin g0ns”.
‘”Move!” He barked again.
‘I contemplated whether to tell him  that I was not living in that compound but just visiting but a certain part of my brain whispered that we were way beyond that.
‘With the 2 g0ns pointed at me, I led them to my flat and rang the bell. My daughter opened the door and they pushed us in. They made my kids lie on the floor while they robbed me blind but at the end of the day, I was thankful they didn’t grape my daughters and I or even kidnap any of us.
‘In the first few months after that, whenever I’m out of my house and it starts to get dark, I’d start shivering with fear. I couldn’t drive at night for the longest possible time and I still try my best not to drive at night.
‘My only “offence” was that I was returning home from work, where I had gone to save lives. And so was Dr. Stephen’s. The young man left his home to go to work and he met his untimely death.
‘From my daughter’s account, Dr. Stephen was not only a great doctor but the kind of person you’d want to have in your corner and yet, he was sta.bbed multiple times and his body dumped on the road.
‘May your soul rest in peace, Dr. Stephen Vanman and be the persons who committed this act be brought to justice speedily.’
